    The Seventh Realm
    By: Cody Robinson

    Chapter One

A sudden downpour of rain pelts the top of the small wooden houses' roof, as the ever-increasing wind outside causes a small leak in Rothins ceiling. He mumbles to himself as he moves toward the right side of his tiny house where his small wooden closet resides, which is made of the sturdiest wood and stands about as high as the average man. Rothin reaches for the doorknob as another leak in his ceiling springs and a raindrop pelts him in the forehead.
"Damn this rain!" He mutters to himself as he opens the closest door, which as it is opening creaks as if it were completely rusted. The door finally open, Rothin looks inside the closet and spots that which he was looking for, two small wooden buckets which he normally uses to retrieve water from his well outside just to the left of his garden. He pulls the two buckets out of the closest and places them behind him as he closes the closet door once more. The first of the buckets he removes and places under the newly formed leak directly above him, as another raindrop pelts him in the face.
"Rain! I hate the rain!" He spats out as he picks up the other bucket moving to the other side of his house where he normally sits in front of his fire place. He makes his way to the left of his chair; he then places the bucket down on the floor and listens as the water drips down into the bucket rather than onto his floor. He sits down in his chair next to the fireplace to warm up, as with the rain the temperature dropped to an unusual cool level for this time of year.
With an unsatisfactory look on his face, he looks out the window to the dreary afternoon. "It has been raining for days now! When will this stop! This isn't what is supposed to be happening!" He says as looks out once again sighing.
"Father? What do you mean this isn't supposed to be happening?" A woman speaks as she enters the house with the hood of her white robes draped over her head.
"Boji, my daughter, it was just the chatter of an old man. Please do not worry about my words, it is nothing."
"Father, have you had visions again? If you have you must tell me about them." She states concerned.
"Boji, it has been nearly ten years since my last vision. Why would you think I would suddenly have another?"
Boji, annoyed, says, "Father, please, do not hide it. Tell me about the vision. You used to have them all the time, that is what made you the mage you were."
"Were! I am still the mage I used to be! I just choose to remove myself as a teacher from the Academy of Sorcery. Please, sit down and I will tell you what I saw." He says to his daughter as she sits down on his right.
Boji smiling, says, "Of course father, I meant nothing by that. Please tell me all about your vision."

Rothin listens to the patter of the rain on the top of his home as he begins to recall the vision he had just one week earlier while working in his garden. "It all started one week ago my dear, I was out working in the garden and suddenly my mind was flooded with images I didn't recognize. It took me a few minutes to understand what was happening, and from that point on, I was greatly disturbed by what I saw."
"Please father, tell me what you saw." Boji says worried about the knowledge she is about to receive.
"Very well, it all started with me looking into this crystal formation, which I located a few miles from here. It was strange, I just had a feeling I should go for a walk, so as I was walking I saw this growth and observed it for a few minutes and returned home. It was quite beautiful, made of quartz, it stood about four feet high, with small offspring on all four sides, they sprouted out a couple of inches and then continued upward like a tower, falling slightly below the main piece of the crystal." Rothin says as he sighs looking out into the dreary weather.
"As I recall, the vision started with me, once again, standing over the formation, except this time instead of just observing, I walked up to it, and touched it's surface with my hand. The crystal shocked me, like a bolt of lightning; it held me in its grasp. The crystal then, as if suddenly brought to life by my touch, changed colors to this deep purple, the outer columns turned into a lighter purple, energy started pulsing between the center pillar and the smaller ones. Then, the crystal released its hold from me and I fell backwards, feeling as if it drained some of my life force to make itself stronger. The energy pulsed back and forth, strengthening more and more, until it built up and a beam of energy rushed into the sky, turning it from a clear, blue sky, to the darkest crimson, then to a dark gray, in which storm clouds erupted."
"The site scared me, I had no idea what was going on, so I observed, as I slowly moved away from the crystal. As I reached the woods, which surrounded it, a barrier was in place, and I could go no further. I was forced to stay near it, I felt it draw more power from me, so in a chance to help defend myself…"
"Father, what did you do?" Boji asks curiously.
Rothin looks at his daughter, but he no longer sees her. The vision has completely taken control of his mind. He relives it as if it were happening for the first time.

"What is happening!" Rothin yells as the power emanating from the crystal intensifies and starts to drown out all other noises. "Ahhh!" he screams as a beam from the crystal changes direction, moving directly into his chest, knocking him back against a nearby tree. He feels his own energy being drained by the crystal. As he begins to panic, his own natural instinct begins to take over, created through the years of magical training he received at the Academy of Sorcery. He begins to chant…

"A potência da mente, do corpo, e da liga da Alma. A potência da luz, protege-me desta disposição."
Suddenly, a brilliant flash of gleaming light appeared, on all sides around Rothin. He felt the beam of energy subside from its strangling hold on his life essence. This magical shield, in which he cast, was now protecting him from the assault by which the crystal has put upon him. He slowly rises to his feet, regaining the strength, which was so recently taken from him.
He begins to move to his right, to where the path that led him to this formation was, as he moves the crystal quickly strengthening the barrier by which he is contained. He moves his hands along the barrier, looking for even the slightest crack that he might be able to shatter it with another spell. Suddenly, a loud explosion is heard and he quickly turns his head.
Gradually fading in above the crystals was a small tear in the air. It expanded at a pace quick enough to terrify, yet slow enough to make one feel comfortable, as if he had all the time in the world.
As Rothin watched the tear in the air, small jagged bolts of lighting surged all around it, dancing around in all types of designs. The tear expanding slowly, Rothin decided he must figure out what was happening, especially since he had no way of retreat.
He moves ever closer to the rip as he takes his first look inside. "It can't be! This is impossible! Another dimension? Another realm? What is this?!" Rothin terrified by the site at which he looked upon, took a step back, as eyes from the other side gleamed, and loud, vicious snarl sounded about.

    "Massster…" the creature hissed.
"Yes, minion?" The man hidden in the shadows answered.
    "The portal opens…" It answered.
"Ah… the time has finally came then. Go gather my army, now! Have them prepared for travel in five minutes."
    "Yes massster…"
The creature moved quickly down the long dark corridor, as it claws made a screeching sound along the hard granite floor. Once reaching the end of the passageway, the creature looked to its left as its glittering eyes saw a commander in the Legions army. Approaching him quickly, he begins hissing out his masters' orders. "Massster has commanded that the army be gathered quickly."
"For what reason minion?" The Dark Knight inquired.
    "The portal opens…"
"Return to your master and tell him his army shall be gathered forth quickly. Go now minion, or your hide will be mine."

"Yes… of course…" The minion quickly retraced his steps, backing away from the over towering Dark Knight, never taking his eyes off of him. As he turned down the corridor, he quickly ran back to his master and returned with the news.
"Massster, your orders have been delivered. Saul is gathering your forces." The minion said proudly.
"Excellent! It seems my orders are not to complex for your small brain. Return to the others. Gather yourself in the front lines. Go!"
"Right away massster…" The creature again propelled its body down the hall to join with its fellow kin.
"Finally… now with that blistering thing out of my way, I can continue my efforts in opening the gateway. Soon, all shall be mine. I will control all seven realms. It is my destiny." The man stepped out from the shadows to look forth into the twilight of magical energies to see his destination.
"What is this? Who is that man? Ah… but of course, who else would it be? Our fair Rothin, now how did he discover this gateway?" The man, drawing back the black hood of his cloak raised his hands into the air. He moves them in small circles, beginning a chant, he then shifts his hands to the left, drawing his right hand down below his waist, while his left hand moves to the right.
"Luz preta, praga, destruição, Eu chamo-o adiante…" He chants, as magical bolts emerge from his fingertips, aimed directly into the realm gateway.

Rothin looks in front of him as he continues moving closer to the entity. The glimmering eyes that are looking at him suddenly vanish as he halts. Minutes pass as nothing within the vortex can be seen. Swiftly, he hears the faint sound of a magical chant. As he realizes what he is hearing, it is far too late. Out from the portal blast magical missiles aimed directly for his chest. The blast hits him on target as his energy shield is shattered and the magical impulses protecting him vanish. The missiles propel his body back against the hard oak tree behind him.
Rothin, glances up, takes a deep breath, but he can not move. He sees a creature, a foul looking demonic creature, step through the rift. It stands about two feet tall, walks on four legs. It moves ever closer to him as more of its kinship move through the vortex. Following the creatures come men in black armor, who ride on top of black stallions with the emblem of the forsaken god Lonigan, the source of evil for the seven realms, come flowing through freely as the wind blows.
Rothin looks in terror as the creatures, followed by their commanders, the Dark Knights, continue to flow through into his realm. He can do nothing but watch for the magic missiles have disabled him in every way, shape, and form.

After what must seem like hours, after hordes and hordes of demon flow through, walks a man into Rothins realm. A man who moves with confidence, one who is slender, yet powerful, a person who knows he has the power to decide the fate of many. He walks up to Rothin.
Rothin looks up into the hooded face of his newfound captor. The man looking down at him, slowly pulls back his hood to reveal a very human, very recognizable face…
With all of his being, Rothin uses his remaining strength to speak, "No! It's impossible! It can't be you! I destroyed you years ago…" Rothin yells out in terror.
The man reaches down, grabbing Rothin around his throat, pulling him up with one hand to his own eye level. "You are wrong fair wizard. You banished me from this realm, and I thank you for that. You allowed me to realize what true power is, and now is my time for redemption, and your time for demise! Mwuahahah…"
Rothin with a look in terror in his eyes could do nothing but wait for the inevitable. The man dropped him to the ground and begins his hand movements.
"Luz preta, praga, destruição, Eu chamo-o adiante…"
    "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" Rothin screams…
