The official Etherlords II website is open and ready for viewing. Strategy First and Nival Interactive announced in early June that they will be bringing Etherlords II to the North American market and now you can learn all about the sequel at; http://www.etherlords.com

“In an unprecedented meeting today between the elders of the four races that inhabit the Etherworld, it was announced that a new website would be placed on the Internet here on Earth in order to provide ordinary humans more information about key people and places there. Commenting on the site, Octavius, a leading member of the Learned Council from the Kinets race said, “We wanted to dispel some of the myths about Etherlords II and of course encourage our tourism industry”. – Quote from the website

Etherlords II is the sequel to the innovative turn-based strategy game originally released in November 2001. Similar to Etherlords I, which was highly praised for its tactical depth and stunning graphics, Etherlords II promises to be even more spectacular, changing the emphasis of the game from simple exploration and resource gathering to a more enriching story-driven adventure.

Players control one of four races in a lavish 3D fantasy world, in which they will explore, and conquer territory, solve puzzles, and seek out enemies. Combat takes place in wonderfully detailed and expansive arenas and is based upon fantasy collectable card games in which the player must make tactical decisions on the types and combinations of spells and creatures to cast against their foes.

The sequel is based upon a new and enhanced narrative that lends itself to exploration and adventure. 4 new campaigns will offer 16 new creatures and over 30 new spells, including spells and creatures that can be wielded by all of the races. A simplified interface and a thorough tutorial system enhances gameplay as well as new abilities, such as sailing, tunneling, teleporting, and an artifact editor for creating customized spells. As Heroes develop their skills they will change in appearance, giving the game more of a role-playing aspect.

In addition, players will find a map editor that allows anyone to create their own maps and combine them into entire campaigns. Added modes for one-on-one and team-based multiplayer duels on a new game server featuring auto-rating and recording will make on-line tournaments more captivating than ever before.

Strategy First is set to publish Etherlords II in Q2 2003 and Infogrames will exclusively distribute it.

Publisher Strategy First and Developer Third Wire are pleased to announce that Strike Fighters: Project 1, the flight simulation that everyone is talking about has shipped to retail stores nationwide.

“The time period in SF is unique and has really influenced the feel of the game,” says Product Manager, Pro Sotos.“You really have to play it to believe it!”

From Tsuyoshi Kawahito (aka TK), the legendary lead designer behind Jane’s Longbow 2 and European Air War, Strike Fighters: Project 1 is set in the 1960s, a unique decade when aviation technology was still primitive, but advancing at a rapid pace. This historical era has been overlooked by flight sims – until now! Take control of some of the most renowned aircraft of the era, including the F-4 Phantom II, considered one of the most versatile combat aircraft of all time. Along with a historical timeframe, Strike Fighters: Project 1 has a thrilling Middle Eastern setting that puts gamers high above the now controversial desert sands.

Strike Fighters: Project 1 uses an all new “next generation” graphics engine that generates incredibly detailed images that transport you directly into the cockpit. But the ride doesn’t stop there! With its mod-friendly generator, Strike Fighters: Project 1 follows in the footsteps of games like Half-Life that offer gamers endless hours of new and exciting gameplay and replayability.

Strike Fighters: Project 1 will be exclusively distributed by Infogrames in North America. For more information on Strike Fighters: Project 1, please visit www.strategyfirst.com.

PC-Gaming.com's got an interview with Ron Jones, composer of the music for Star Trek: Next Generation, Family Guy, and most importantly two star trek games -- Starfleet Academy and Starfleet Command.
"I would say that game developers should take more risks, try not to copy the most successful titles just for a quick buck. Bucks are there to make by being creative; the audience is waiting for you to raise the bar. When it comes to music, don’t treat it like the last thing to slap in there. Music is more powerful than the images. When did you ever see a stadium move back and forth to a picture? But give them a beat, a groove a melody and the place will rock. So invest in things that will bring the greatest impact, music is one of the parts that will give that impact (or not). "

ThrustWorld have posted an editorial entitled "Moaning about dying? Ban this sick filth!"
"The arrogance is quite astounding. Audacious questions are asked, coupled with accusing statements. Answers are of course expected, as
silence only ‘proves’ that the player in question is guilty of all charges, and of course not answering is arrogance. Naturally. The accuser uses venomous replies from the recipient to reaffirm suspicions,
or to back up a flim-flam argument that holds no water. He or she automatically assumes the right to brand you as a hacker despite playing the game for roughly, ooh, ten minutes. Don't forget you're not
allowed to use any gun available to you. Using AWP is lame. Waiting for someone to come round a corner is lame. Throwing grenades is lame."

Macintosh and PC users alike have begun testing the latest Beta version of World War II Online, the world’s first virtual battlefield available through Strategy First, Playnet and Cornered Rat Software.

Beta v1.7 was just released for limited testing and when finalized, will be the latest update to game available in time for the launch of the Macintosh version of the game in early November.

WWII Online is still the first and only massively multiplayer first-person virtual battlefield that covers a ˝ scale map of Europe with accurate terrain modeling. It allows thousands of players to fight 24/7 in a persistent world in which character advancement and career paths provide a rich RPG layer, and strategic systems are driven by player missions and command structures. An extensive web-based player services package provided by www.playnet.com is integrated with gameplay. Players from around the world can take part in creating new history while fighting on the battlefields and in the skies of Europe.

TORN's own Thorongil recently sat down with Tolkien artist and LOTR conceptual designer Alan Lee for an EXCLUSIVE interview! Take a look at what he has to say!

    Q. Most of, if not all of your work is in the Sci Fi/Fantasy genre? Why or what influenced you
    going into this genre?

    A. “It really was a childhood love of fairy tales, mythology and certain books and film I encountered early on in childhood that set me on this path. One of the very first films I remembered seeing was “The Thief of Baghdad”. It was such a strong vivid experience watching this magical tale unfold I was hooked for life on stories with magic and fantasies from that point on. I began to discover a great love for folklore and mythology and legends from the books I found in the local library; I devoured them.”

Montreal, Quebec. October 3, 2002. Strategy First announced today that they will be releasing the "Ultimate Trainz Collection" (UTC) in the North

American market just in time for Christmas.

Hitting store shelves on November 19th, UTC includes 2 CDs full of dynamic railroad gameplay that lets you not only create your own landscape, but collect and customize your locos and control as many trains as you and your PC can handle.

"Trainz impressed rail fans around the world with its combination of stunning graphics and easy layout construction," said Don McFatridge, President of Strategy First Inc. "We are delighted to have the opportunity to present this excellent upgrade in time for Christmas."

UTC brings a whole new dimension to gameplay with the introduction of challenging and compelling scenarios. From short passenger runs, to humpyard activities, to complex freight maneuvers, scenarios offer something for everyone. Performance is measured against scores or time limits, and play can vary between running a single engine, changing between multiple locos or operating as a switchman.

"The Ultimate Trainz Collection offers gamers and train fans more than just driving a train," said Tony Hilliam, Vice-President of Auran. "Working closely with our legion of loyal fans, we have improved our easy-to-use route editor and continued to add more content, more gameplay and more features. UTC also integrates closely with our Trainz Download Station making the collection and installation of new custom content a breeze.

We're excited by what our online community are already producing and are looking forward to the future as they invent new and imaginative ways of using this technology."

Users can even create their own scenarios using the powerful scripting language provided and provide them for download for other Trainz fans. Of course the selection of trains has been greatly expanded as well. There are dozens of new loco's, freight wagons and passenger cars plus a special bonus inclusion in UTC is Paint Shed; an easy-to-use paint program that allows users to create their own railroad liveries. In total, over 100 different cars, wagons and loco's are included, and thousands more objects can be downloaded free.
